2020. What is there to say that hasn’t already been said?

It’s a year we’ll never forget. It’s the year that changed everything our world has ever known. It’s the year the world stopped.

From shutdowns to lock-downs, from survival to loss, from regular everyday people who turned out to be the real hero’s we all needed, our world became something unrecognizable.

We all did the best we could.

As I have mentioned before we are very fortunate to live in Nova Scotia, Canada. We are one of four Atlantic Provinces on the east coast that became known as the Atlantic Bubble. Our COVID case count in Nova Scotia has been excellent following the initial surge. Every time we start to creep up in cases of unknown origin or there are signs of community spread public health has led the way and implemented restrictions to keep us all safe. Nobody likes restrictions but Nova Scotians overall have bought into the plan and it’s working. We are among the safest places to be in Canada right now.

This has allowed us to live a relatively normal life. There are exceptions to that normal, but nothing we can’t work with.

For us the most difficult has been not being able to really meet our newest grand-baby and not getting ‘squeezes’ from the other three.

In early October we welcomed our newest grandson.

I look forward to the day we can meet him up close and safely be with his brothers and sister again. They are all so adorable!

The three of us in my household work directly with the public. We don’t socialize outside our bubble for the most part. Definitely not going to risk exposing the grand-babies to COVID. It’s not an easy choice, but it is the right choice.

We did manage a few road trips this fall.

For Christmas we did physically distanced out door visits with my family and our daughter’s family.

Hopefully Christmas 2021 will be better.

We also found it odd to not be looking for a trip to our much loved Akumal, Mexico. It’s the one thing that normally gets me through winter. Looking forward to amazing food, people, beaches and things to do has just become part of what we do. It was just bizarre to not be escaping in March. Fortunately, our weather this winter wasn’t that bad. We had a few storms and maybe two weeks of really cold weather but nothing major. Fingers crossed for 2022.

There seemed to be so much wildlife around this winter. I’m not sure if we just noticed it more or not, either way it’s been fun to watch.

2021 started off on a very positive note!

The last few months have been beautiful in their own way.

We are now enjoying the awakening that comes with Spring.

Oh, and with a lot less driving happening at the moment the squirrels decided to use my vehicle as a nest.

With the planned opening of the Atlantic Bubble on April 19th, we are ready to hit the road again. Not sure where we’re headed this year but I know it’ll be awesome when we get there.
